HoriPro, a popular agency which hosts talents like Ishihara Satomi, Fujiwara Tatsuya and Funakoshi Eiichiro, came up with the idea of creating cute animated clips as a form of entertainment and distraction for the youngest victims of the tsunami and earthquake disasters.
Each clip features one well-known Japanese folktale, as recited by one of HoriPro’s many talents. They uploaded the clips onto their official YouTube channel with the hopes that anyone with an Internet connection would show them to their children.
Due to all of the emergency news broadcasts, many children who weren’t old enough to grasp the seriousness of the events were (and still are) deprived of all their fun and educational shows. The agency also understood that many adults who were directly affected by the calamity would not have been able to detach themselves from their sorrow in order to entertain children.
As such, HoriPro’s president Hori Yoshitaka personally tweeted the URL to their YouTube channel, and expressed hoped that many people would retweet it in order to reach as many children as possible.
Right now, there are 20 different folktales with a runtime up to 10 minutes per clip. For example, children can find ”The Bean, the Straw and the Coal” (narrated by Ishihara Satomi), “Treasure Contest” (narrated by Fujiwara Tatsuya) and “Why Sea Water is Salty” (narrated by Yuuka).
President Hori ensured that this won’t be the only form of relief aid provided by his talent agency, “As of today we have started to put several plans into action in order to help with the reconstruction and mentally support those affected by the disaster.”
It’s a great way to give back to the community, don’t you think? Check out their heartwarming project below!
