Sooyoung’s mom thinks her daughter has weird taste in men

SNSD member Sooyoung revealed her unique taste in men.

On the December 15th episode of Mnet‘s ‘Beatles Code‘, the girls of SNSD revealed their ideal types. Sooyoung admitted that she is attracted to down-to-earth guys who are friendly and approachable, and also that her mother can never seem to understand her attraction to the guys she likes.



“There was one time I went to go eat, and there was a guy who was actively grilling meat for all the Japanese tourists, speaking to them in his broken Japanese. I told my mom that I thought he was attractive, and my mom told me she couldn’t seem to understand,” Sooyoung said.

“There was another time where I saw a policeman directing traffic across the street, and he was working really hard. I told my mom that I thought he was attractive too.”

The MCs who listened to Sooyoung describe her ideal type remarked, “I guess you need a guy who can grill meat while directing traffic,” which caused the set to explode in laughter.

IU opens up about her family and her past

Last week, IU revealed that she would be speaking frankly about her family and her past for the first time through KBS‘s ‘Win Win‘.

On December 13th, IU finally shared some stories about her past, which was impacted by poverty. According to producers, IU said, “When I was younger, I had no choice but to live separately from my parents because we were so impoverished. I lived with my grandmother, a cousin, and my younger brother for a year and a half in a studio room.”



She continued, “The room was always cold and there was never enough food to eat. We were barely able to live by on money my grandmother made from selling small hair accessories at the market. I rarely met with or spoke to my parents and consoled myself whenever I felt lonely that I still had my grandmother.”

Because of the poor conditions of her home, IU confessed that she liked spending time at the rehearsal room than her own home. “Instead of my lonely and cold home, I liked my rehearsal studio better. More than anything, I was glad to be able to eat as much as I could and sleep in a warm bed at night.”



A year before her debut, IU revealed that she had been dropped from 20 different auditions and had even been involved in fraud.

Former U-KISS member Alexander met his fans for the first time in a year through a showcase in Japan.

At the showcase, Alexander performed Hyun Bin‘s “That Man” (from the ‘Secret Garden‘ soundtrack) as well as his new Japanese tracks like “Oh Baby” and “I’m JUST“.



“I studied Japanese in college, and I have a lot of interest in Japanese culture,” Alexander said. “I want to increase my Japanese skills even more and spread my Japanese activities ever farther.”

He continued, “Although I’m very nervous without my U-KISS members, I’m happy that I got to meet with my fans after such a long time.”

Trailer released for ‘Koala Kid’ feat. SHINee’s Taemin & SNSD’s Sunny

SHINee‘s Taemin and SNSD‘s Sunny have lent their voices for the upcoming animated film, ‘Koala Kid: Birth of a Hero‘. Taemin will voice-act as the main character, ‘Johnny’, a circus koala who’s suddenly thrown into the role of an unexpected hero. Though he was once an outcast, he makes friends with the beautiful and courageous ‘Miranda’ (Sunny), along with other animal friends in their quest to save the natural habitats of Australia.

UEE would choose raising her child over her career

Young women often ponder the issue of having to choose between their career and family, and After School‘s UEE is no different. The idol recently shared her views on the topic during her interview with TV Report .

On December 1st, UEE was asked, “If the son of a wealthy family wanted to marry you, but you had to give up your career, what would you do?” The singer responded, “If someone I loved asked me to step down from the industry to live a quiet life together, I would have a lot of thinking to do. This would be regardless of whether or not he comes from a wealthy family“.



“Regardless of marriage, I do plan on temporarily taking a break from the entertainment industry if I have a child. I would return maybe when he or she enters elementary school. It’s been confirmed that Big Bang‘s leader, G-Dragon, will perform at the upcoming YG Family concert!

According to concert representatives on December 2nd, G-Dragon showed up in the early morning for rehearsal and successfully completed his preparations.

IU is considering on using Twitter as a new way to communicate with fans

Singer IU, who just recently came out with her 2nd full-length album, “Last Fantasy”, revealed that she was considering to finally jump on the bandwagon and join Twitter in order to communicate with her fans.

Social networking sites like Twitter and me2day are considered popular mediums for celebrities to communicate on a daily basis with each other and their fans. Last July, the surfacing of a fake IU Twitter account led to IU coming forth to publicly confirm that she “does not use Twitter”.



Instead, IU communicates with her fans through her official fan cafe, which is directly managed by her agency, LOEN Entertainment. It is here where she posts updates about album promotions as well as personal photos and selcas. After her falling when she went to collect her ‘Best Song Award‘ at the ’2011 Melon Music Awards’ last week, IU had even submitted a cute post on her fan cafe saying, “The fall was a performance.”

IU’s reason for considering the use of Twitter is because of her upcoming busy schedules for her Japanese advancement. IU’s “Best Album” is slated for release in Japan this coming December 14th, which will be followed up by her first Japanese showcase in January and other various Japanese schedules.



During her upcoming rigorous schedule that is mainly based in Japan, IU feels that the most convenient medium of communication will indeed be Twitter. “Using her official fan cafe for communication is good, but she feels that Twitter will be the most efficient way to interact with not only her fans in Korea, but also her international fans.”

SNSD’s Taeyeon chosen as the #1 female idol to date during winter’s first snowfall

A recent poll concluded that SNSD‘s leader Taeyeon was the #1 celebrity that people wanted to have a date with during winter’s first snowfall.

From November 10th to the 30th, a Seoul cosmetics surgery site conducted the survey, which drew 1,102 netizen votes. Results show that 41.1% (453 votes) went to SNSD’s Taeyeon, making her the most desired female idol to go on a date with during winter’s first snowfall.



Second and third places went to 2NE1‘s Sandara Park and Wonder Girls’ Sohee, who each received 26.4% and 21.4% of the votes, respectively. Fourth place went to T-ara‘s Eunjung with 11.1% of the votes.

f(x)‘s Luna has been accepted into JoongAng University through their rolling admissions process.
