IU and Wonbin team up for ‘4G LTE’ CF

Wonbin and IU have teamed up to create a 2-part CF series for SK Telecom’s ‘4G LTE’ smartphone data service, which will begin airing on July 22nd. Wonbin’s CF will be based around the “LTE” data service, while IU’s CF will be focusing on “HD” quality videos.

4G LTE, a service that’s 5x faster than the standard 3G service, has Wonbin introducing it by saying, “Who would leave a computer and use a smart phone to downlo…“, but before he can finish his line, the download completes, leaving Wonbin in a surprised state.

IU’s CF, which focuses on utilizing the 4G LTE service to stream in HD quality, will have IU experience a moment of insecurity. The idol, who’s confident with her flawless skin, all of a sudden loses steam while doing a video call in HD, since the high quality video would be able to pick up all of her imperfections.

IU is known for taking part in a lot of video calls, so she cracked up the crew after production wrapped up by saying that from now on, she’s going to have to put extra effort in taking care of her skin.

IU talks about titles for her seniors and her reason for postponing college

On March 23rd, singer IU guested on MBC’s “Radio Star” and revealed that Yoon Sang, the composer behind her follow-up track, “The Story Only I Didn’t Know“, was the same age as her father.

The MCs had asked her what title she called him during conversations, to which she replied, “I used to call him ‘oppa’ until I found out that he was born in 1968 and is the same age as my father (42). He’s just a year younger than my mother!”

Her castmates on the show then requested that she call them whatever title she wanted, without relevance to their age. She sweetly called out, “Heechul oppa, Gura uncle, Guk Jin uncle, and Lee Jung oppa!”

To Yoon Jong Shin and Park Wan Kyu, however, she called them ’senior’ respectfully, hilariously disappointing the two uncle fans.

The singer also revealed her thoughts on postponing college for her career.

MC Kim Heechul asked, “Why did you give up college?”. She replied, “Even if I do go on to college, I didn’t think I’d be able to attend classes. I want to go when I’m ready and able to learn properly.”

Kim Gura wondered, “Is college really a necessity?” IU agreed by replying, “I feel that way too.”

The other MCs laughed while commenting, “Since you’re a senior in high school now, you must have a lot of time left over since you’re not applying for colleges.”

To their amusement, Kim Gura added, “Well, isn’t it nice to at least hang something up?”

Singer IU was a guest on the March 11th broadcast of “Yoo Hee Yeol’s Sketchbook“, during which she sang three songs: “Dreaming” (from “Dream High“), “I’d Do It All Again” (originally by Corinne Bailey Rae), and “The Story Only I Didn’t Know” (IU’s current title track).

In the past, host Yoo Hee Yeol would always display nervousness and amazement towards IU. Knowing this, IU changed the lyrics of “Dreaming” to describe Yoo Hee Yeol, which made him all the more nervous!

She sang, “Sharp eyes like a hawk, forehead like the Pacific Ocean, small and cute shoulders~ Established appearance from behind, a white face, with a warm way of speaking~ Did you miss me? Don’t just laugh~ I know how you feel, uncle~ Even when you’re coy, I know. You can fool a ghost but you can’t fool me~ Step by step, nervous footsteps, with excitement~ I prepared this much today~ I missed you, uncle~”

The audience applauded IU for her clever lyrics, and they burst into laughter once more after Yoo Hee Yeol asked, “Why do you call me ‘uncle’ and ‘mister’ when you call Yoon Sang ‘oppa’?” Yoon Sang is the composer of “The Story Only I Didn’t Know” and is 43 years old – three years older than 40-year-old Yoo Hee Yeol.

IU replied, “I only found out recently that Uncle Yoo Hee Yeol is younger than Yoon Sang oppa. With his image, I can’t measure Yoon Sang oppa’s age.”

Yoo Hee Yeol revealed, “When I was in elementary school, I dreamed of becoming a musician through watching Yoon Sang-sunbae (senior).”

Meanwhile, 10cm and M4 also guested alongside IU for this episode.

Wooyoung pulled out his acting skills to make his voice sound really shocked and nervous. When Lee Soo Young asked the fan why he liked IU, he replied “There’s no specific reason“. He said that all of his friends liked her, and loved seeing her on “Dream High“. Hilariously, he also told her not to talk to ‘Jason’ anymore because he’s “a bad person“.

The fan revealed himself to be an ‘aspiring singer from Busan’, and he wanted to sing a song for IU. He belted out the chorus from 2PM’s “Again & Again“, as IU listened on with amazement. Lee Soo Young was quick to pick up Wooyoung’s voice, and scolded, “Wooyoung, please stop!”, but IU remained clueless, even commenting that he sounded like either Wooyoung or Junsu.

When Wooyoung finally admitted his identity, IU was shocked and couldn’t hold back her laughter. Afterwards, she grabbed a sheet of paper to fan her face, and said that she couldn’t believe it was really Wooyoung. The two asked each other why they both haven’t been keeping in touch, and Wooyoung revealed that he was busy promoting in Japan.

Near the end, he commented that he listens to IU every night before he goes to sleep and requested IU’s song, “Slowly Slowly“.

Fans of KBS’s “Dream High” felt their hearts flutter at the ultra-cute kiss scene between ‘Pilsook’ (IU) and ‘Jason’ (Wooyoung)!

The February 22nd episode saw Jason provide an opportunity for Pil Sook to appear on broadcast. On their way home, Jason suggested that she delete the photos of her former chubby self, to which she replied, “Those were my happiest days.”
